Diego Laxalt Set for Celtic Loan Deal
Uruguayan left-back Diego Laxalt is set to join Celtic on a season-long deal from our Europa League Group H opponents AC Milan. The 27-year old full back, who can also play as a winger, spent last season on loan at Torino.
We understand Celtic were interested in bringing Laxalt to the club last summer but couldn't agree a deal. AC Milan signed the left-back for £14m from Genoa back in 2018 and they originally wanted to recoup their initial layout in a permanent deal.
Uefa rules mean that if Laxalt joins he will be able to play for Celtic against AC Milan in the Europa League group stage - remember Patrick Roberts against Manchester City? Same thing.
As this is the final day of the transfer window, Laxalt is expected to have a medical and complete the move later today.
Celtic's moves for Ryan Sessegnon and Mattia De Sciglio are evidence that we clearly wanted a player of good pedigree in that area of the pitch and I think Laxalt ticks that box.
Do you think this is the final signing we need to make today?
