"He Makes Our Team Better" | Ange Reacts to McGregor's Match Winning Return

Callum McGregor capped his return to the Celtic starting eleven with a thunderous strike that secured a massive 3 points on the road at Pittodrie. For 86 minutes, the Hoops couldn't find the key to unlock the Aberdeen defence but it was the returning Celtic captain who led by example once again, striking across Kelle Roos into the bottom right hand corner.

Making his first start since 5th October - where he picked up that knee injury in Leipzig - McGregor was instrumental throughout the game as Celtic enjoyed 80%, yes that's 80%, possession across the 90 minutes. He set a league record for number of passes per game, after only 60-odd minutes and everything went through him as the Hoops probed to try and find the breakthrough.

Giving his reaction to Sky Sports after the game Ange Postecoglou praised the performance of the captain:

"What a great way for him to come back into the team. Look, we did awfully well without him but he's a fantastic footballer - so he makes our team better, absolutely!

I was super happy to get him back in the side and he got what he deserved. He was really important for us today, he dictated the play in the middle of the park and made sure we didn't get too anxious about scoring."

In today's full-time reaction Kenny summed up the influence of McGregor on this Celtic team:

"We're a different animal with him in the side and Postecoglou recognises just how pivotal he is to everything we do."

You can catch the entire full-time reaction below.

Celtic now face Livingston at home on Wednesday before a clash against St. Johnstone on Christmas Eve. Maximum points in the 3 games will be vital to cement our 9-point lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership.
